Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP):
-application period is November 1st through March 31st
-provides grants to eligible households that pay for home heating directly or included in rental payments -emergency assistance to pay for heating is also available separately from this program -can call for emergency assistance if you receive a “shut-off” notice

* Universal Service Fund (USF):<br> -Applicants of LIHEAP are automatically screened for this program
-benefits are paid directly to your energy supplier
-Call 1-800-240-1347

* Universal Service Fund Fresh Start:
-One time opportunity for new USF recipients, who are also Elizabethtown Gas customers to erase past due balances of more than $60.00

• NJ Lifeline:
-Eligible senior citizens and SSI recipients receive an annual credit, totaling $225.00, on their gas and/or eleictric bill -applications are available at local Office on Aging or calling 1-800-792-9745
