Rec/Sports
Lucy O'Keefe:

Crandon Lakes boasts a year round calendar of recreation events. Please contact Lucy O'Keefe to volunteer, or for information.

Memorable past events (see photos below) include Holiday Caroling and Crafts, Halloween Costume Contests, Easter Egg Hunts, Crandon Lakes History Night (see our history section on the web for more!), Nature Lectures and Camp Fire Nights, as well as Adult and Kids Music on the beach! New ideas are always welcome!

SPORTS:

Crandon Lakes' residents enjoy a series of excellent sports facilities for both organized and casual play.

A full sized softball field, and newly completed basketball court are located at Scarpulla Field at the cove end of the lake. Soccer goals are also available at Scarpulla Field for both adult and children's use.

The basketball court is transformed into a pickleball court on Saturday mornings during the summer. Pickleball is a modified form of tennis that uses a plastic wiffleball and characteristic wooden rackets.

A new volleyball court is located near the office overlooking the EastBeach. The East Beach boasts a horseshoe pit as well. Residents with badges can borrow volleyballs, horseshoes and other equipment at the office.

Volunteers to host sporting events are always needed. Past successes (see accompanying photos) have included a Junior Olympics, regular Sunday softball games, a youth volleyball game (using an extra large soft ball), and soccer training for children. We also support an annual fishing contest, an occasional catfish derby, and have hosted both fly fishing and ice fishing lessons in the past.

Participation in our sports programs will encourage further development ofour sports facilities. We envision improvements to the horseshoe pits, and the possible addition of a bocce court. Please contact Kevin Peters , or Paul Rockwood with any interest in volunteering or participating. We will keep active lists of member interests, and make a point of contacting folks as events are planned. Keep your eyes out for upcoming events and please encourage participation!

Welcome to the summer of 2007.

We have some new activities set for this summer, so join us for a hot dog or music on the beach. We are always looking for volunteers to assist or run a new or existing event. Please call the office if you can help. And thanks to all the volunteers who help now and throughout the year. ** All types of sports equipment can be borrowed from the office.
