Another winter has gone by and it’s time to get ready for another summer of fun at the Lake.
There are several things I would like to cover:
Projects:
Pavilion—We have put aside $20,000 out of capital. It appears that this project is going to take time to complete. We are looking for a volunteer(s) who could help us complete a survey of the planned site and well as help us with the pavilion design. We are also going to incur legal fees presenting our plan to Hampton Township as well as possibly the state DEP if the site is designated as wetlands.
Danielle Dippel is heading up the project and will be meeting with engineer, Dan Kent, soon and could use some help.
Speed Bump—We put aside monies for speed bumps near the Cove. Unfortunately, Hampton Township has made a decision to veto our plan. The town decided that the process of taking the speed humps in & out each year does a great deal of damage to the road. There was also an issue of driver’s visibility in seeing the bumps. They are looking into installing signs in the area.
Lake Restoration—Larry Kovar from Aquatic Analysts has spoken at the 5/26/11 Board Meeting. He discussed our needs and came up with strategies for Lake restoration over the next three years.
Volunteers: We need your help!
This is your community. Dues have not been raised in two years. We have an active Board with a few new members and still it is the same people working for the betterment of Crandon Lakes with little help from most residents. Please let us know what we can do and what you can do for the community. I answer all my emails.
Our Board Meetings generally start at 7:30 PM on the fourth Thursday of the month. We were asked to open the first half of the meeting to discuss community concerns as well as to go over committee reports. We have not had a show in the past few months. We as a Board know that the community cares about issues, however, it is disheartening when we are looking at empty chairs month after month.
Please attend, volunteer, and be part of YOUR Crandon Lakes community. Sussex County’s best kept secret!
